A “Feast” Of Chinese Art At Princeton

The Princeton University Art Museum will host displays of Chinese art depicting feasts and the role they played in history and culture dating back almost 900 years in its exhibition, “The Eternal Feast: Banqueting in 10th–14th-Century Chinese Art.” The exhibition will feature artwork from the Song, Liao, and Yuan dynasties. According to the museum, while these works of art focus “on a rare group of surviving paintings from the period — along with ceramic, lacquer, metal, and stone objects as well as textiles — the exhibition reveals feasts to be singularly positioned to illuminate one of the most enduring and significant facets of the Chinese tradition: the continuum between life and the afterlife.” The exhibition opens on October 19, 2019 and runs through February 16, 2020. For more information, visit artmuseum.princeton.edu.
